The purpose of the Natya Dance Theatre (NDT) is to serve as an agent of cultural preservation, presentation and exchange. Navtej Johar is a Bharatanatyam exponent and a choreographer, whose work is unique in that it freely traverses between the traditional and the avant-garde.

Odissi traces its origins to the ritual dances performed in the temples of ancient northern India. Today the name Odissi refers to the dance style of the state of Orissa in eastern India. Like other classical arts of India, this ancient dance style had suffered a decline as temples and artists lost the patronage of feudal rulers and princely states, and by the 1930s and 40s, there were very few surviving practitioners of the art.

The name Pallavi Krishnan is synonymous with Mohiniyattam. One of the young and popular exponents of this art form, Pallavi started learning Mohiniyattam and Bharatanatyam at her early age. After graduating in Bio-science she joined at the Santiniketan (Viswabharati University) for the four-year dance graduation course with Kathakali and Manipuri, duly continuing her pursuits in Mohiniyattam and Bharatanatyam. From Santiniketan she has learnt RabindraPallavi in a Mohini Attam recital Sangeet too. After her graduation from Santiniketan, to specialise further on Mohiniyattam she came to Kerala and joined at the Kerala Kalamandalam. After completing her two-year course from the Kalamandalam she underwent further training under various Gurus of her art form. She was awarded the scholarship of the Government of India, Department of Culture, for higher studies in Mohiniyattam.

A commerce graduate with a course in Mass Communication behind her, Priyadarshini Govind's vocation is Bharatanatyam. After her arangetram in '74 under the auspices of the Mylapore Fine Arts Club, Madras, she has been performing in all the major centers in India. She has also travelled extensively in Europe, North America, South Africa and Asia on concert tours.

The one and only Professional Indian Ventriloquist, Puppeteer and Puppet maker who has performed his widely acclaimed ventriloquial acts in India and abroad during the last four decades. Ramdas Padhye inherited the art of ventriloquism from his father Late Prof. Y. K. Padhye, who is the pioneer Indian Ventriloquist who used ventriloquial dolls in his ventriloquial acts since 1920.

Reela Hota is a dedicated exponent of Odissi. She started learning Odissi from the age of eight from Guru Gangadhar Pardhan in Orissa. She went to train extensively under 'Padmashri' Madhavi Mudgal and later from 'Padmabhushan' Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra.

Rekha received the major part of her training in Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra’s style of Odissi from Shrimati Madhavi Mudgal at Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, New Delhi. Herperformances have taken her to many parts of the world, including USA, Brazil, most of Europe, the Middle East and Japan, as well as South Africa. She has also acted and danced in “Prerna”, a film produced by Doordarshan and the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage.

The Sangeet Natak Akademi - India's national academy for music, dance and drama - is the first National Academy of the arts set-up by the Republic of India. It was created by a resolution of the (then) Ministry of Education, Government of India, dated 31 May 1952 notified in the Gazette of India of June 1952. The Akademi became functional the following year, with the appointment of its first Chairman, Dr P.V. Rajamannar, and the formation of its all-India council of representatives, the General Council. The first President of India, Dr Rajendra Prasad, inaugurated it on 28 January 1953 in a special function held in the Parliament House.

Swapnasundari was trained in Kuchipudi under the renowned masters Pasumarthi Seetharamaiah and Vempati Chinna Satyam. Her gurus in Bharata Natyam include KN Dakshinamurthy, Adyar K Lakshmanan and B Kalyana Sundaram. She received specialized training in abhinaya from the veteran performer and teacher, Kalanidhi Narayanan, who is recognized for her mastery over the histrionic aspect, or characteristic stylized mime, of Indian classical dance.
