Agricultural & Processed Food Development Authority
The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) was established by the Government of India under the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority Act passed by the Parliament in December, 1985. The Act (2 of 1986) came into effect from 13th February, 1986 by a notification issued in the Gazette of India: Extraordinary: Part-II [Sec. 3(ii): 13.2.1986). The Authority replaced the Processed Food Export Promotion Council (PFEPC).

In 1935, the French Administration created a cell in the Public Health Department for treatment of animals. An officer attended the Animal Health Services during outbreak of contagious diseases. To start with, it was manned by informers, male nurses and home, despaines of the medical department.

Sir Frank Ware C.I.E., F.R.C.V.S. became the first Director of the Department.

Central Bureau of Narcotics
The administration of the Narcotics Laws, namely, the Opium Act of 1857 & 1878 and the Dangerous Drugs Act 1930 vested with the Provincial Government. The amalgamation of these Agencies laid the foundation of the Opium Department in November, 1950 which is presently known as Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN). The headquarters of Central Bureau of Narcotics was shifted from Shimla to Gwalior in 1960.

Basic Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals & Cosmetics Export Promotion Council, popularly known as CHEMEXCIL was established in the year 1963 with it's headquarters at Mumbai,with the objective of making concerted efforts to promote exports of Basic Organic and Inorganic Chemicals, Dyes, Pesticides, Soaps, Detergents, Cosmetics, Toiletries and other products like Agarbattis, Essential, Castor Oil etc.
