Meghalaya Legislative Assembly
Movement for the creation of a separate Hill State was started in 1960 and after 12 years of struggle, the State of Meghalaya was born. Meghalaya the 21st State of the Indian Union was carved out of the erstwhile State of Assam on the 2nd April, 1970 as an autonomous State, created under the Assam Reorganisation (Meghalaya) Act 1969, consisting of the former Garo Hills District and United Khasi and Jaintia Hills district of Assam.
Mizoram Legislative Assembly
Mizoram Legislative Assembly started functioning on 10th May of the same year with thirty elected and three nominated Members. Mizoram attained Statehood on 20th February 1987 and the first State Assembly was instituted in March, 1987 with a total membership of forty.
Orissa High Court
On February 11, 1939 a Resolution was moved in the Legislative Assembly requesting the Government to constitute a committee to examine the question of establishing a separate High Court in Orissa.August 19, 1942 the Law Department of the Government of Orissa appointed a committee with Shri Bira Kishore Ray as Chairman.
Patna High Court

The Patna High Court started its work in 1916 with the Chief Justice and six puisne Judges. In the year 1947, the sanctioned strength of the Court was nine permanent and three additional Judges. Though a separate province for Orissa was created in the year 1937, this High Court exercised jurisdiction over the territories of that province till 26th July, 1948, when a separate High Court was constituted for Orissa.
Punjab and Haryana High Court
The East Punjab High Court of judicature was established at Shimla on August 15, 1947 by the Governor General's High Court (Punjab) Order 1947 issued under Section 9 of the Indian Independence Act, 1947.

Rajasthan High Court
The Rajasthan High Court as ‘A’ Class State, started with the strength of only 6 judges. For scrutinising as to whether the standard of working of all the Judges of the Rajasthan High Court as part ‘B’ State was as high as that of the Judges of the part ‘A’ State, the then Chief Justice of India, Hon’ble Mr. Justice S.R. Das came to Rajasthan.
Rajasthan Legislative Assembly
The legislature, which is running its twelfth term, was first elected by adult franchise in 1952 and this process is continuing with the exceptions of 1980 and 1992 when the Presidential Rule was in force.
Sikkim High Court

A Judge of the High Court of Sikkim was appointed but in 1955, High Court of Judicature (Jurisdiction and Powers) Proclamation, 1955 was issued establishing a High Court in Sikkim. The High Court thus established was made the final Court in all judicial matters, civil or criminal, subject to the exercise of prerogative by the Maharaja to grant mercy, pardon, remission, commutation and reduction of sentence in case of conviction.
