The Shillong Times first appeared as a tabloid-sized weekly on 10 August, 1945 under the editorship of Mr S.B. Chaudhuri on a treadle machine.
The Statesman
The Statesman is one of India's oldest English newspapers. It was founded in Kolkata in 1875 and is directly descended from The Friend of India (founded 1818). The Englishman (founded 1821) was merged with The Statesman in 1934.
The Telegraph
The Telegraph was launched on the 7th July, 1982, published by the ABP group of publications. The Telegraph in its short life span of 23 years has become the largest circulated English daily in the eastern region published from Calcutta.
